Our Mission

St. Catherine's mission as a Catholic school is to prepare and graduate students who show Competence, Conscience, and Compassion as children of God by using their minds well, acting justly and serving the needs of others.

Our Philosophy

The formation of our students is best accomplished in a community of faith in which parents are the primary educators of their children, and teachers and parish ministers work together to support and encourage student learning.

Competence:
We are committed to providing a nurturing, student-centered learning environment in which students develop and utilize critical thinking and core academic skills in a challenging, experiential curriculum. We value the development of the whole person by providing opportunities for intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual growth and by fostering an appreciation for a life full of learning. We encourage all our students to achieve their full potential as active learners and contributing members of their community.

Conscience:
We are committed to the moral development of our students and the formation of their consciences by teaching the values and traditions of our faith. We seek to instill in students an awareness of social and global issues, a sense of responsibility for all of creation, an appreciation of all cultures and faiths, and a commitment to justice.

Compassion:
We are committed to forming students as followers of Jesus through liturgical participation, classroom instruction, and service opportunities. We will guide students to see the needs of others, to respect the dignity of each person, to be inclusive of all, and to value diversity.

School Profile

Our Teachers

Our teachers and staff reflect a combination of enthusiasm and experience that engages students' interest while challenging them to achieve more than they expected. Our teachers average over 12 years of teaching experience. And the average class size at St. Catherine is 25 students; small enough for teachers to know students personally and to carefully nurture individual talents and needs. Parents

In addition to our dedicated faculty and staff, each family commits to a minimum of 45 hours of volunteer time per school year helping to further school and classroom goals. The contribution of so much talent and energy has built a strong community and established a deep bond between school families and the faculty and staff. Parents serve as classroom volunteers, support enrichment activities and athletics, raise funds for special projects, and welcome new families to the school.

Our Students

We have 225+ students enrolled in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Our Class of 2008 graduates were accepted by the following High Schools in the Puget Sound Area:  Bishop Blanchet High School, Seattle Preparatory School, O'Dea High School, Holy Names Academy, Roosevelt, and Lakeside.
